Hi, as we approach the end of the year membership renewals will be due, there are a few changes that will be in place from January including an increase in subs.
Spond Details Confirmation
Firstly, we remind all those yet to complete their details confirmation in Spond that this is needed before membership can be renewed. Members will have a message in the Spond App. For those that don't use the App you will have received and email.
Membership Types
Membership types and packages remain the same, apart from Social and Social+.
Social membership is changing to being included in the 50/50 Lotto. For those already in the lotto you will continue with social membership. For those on social membership to continue to support the club you will have to join the lotto (more below).
Social+ membership is changing to Pay-to-Play. For 2025 we are making it easier for members to settle match fees, and save the club money. Payments will be taken via GoCardLess, which is based on direct debit the mandate for which will have to be set up before the member plays their first match. Payment will follow the usual DD guarantee process. Separate emails will be sent to those on this membership.
Membership Sub Changes
The club has not increased subs for what will be five years and so will be doing so in line with inflation. In 2023-2024 the club ran at a deficit of c£7.5k, which can not be sustained. It costs c£60k per year to get cricket on, including c£25k preparing and maintaining the pitches. Match balls and umpire fees come to around £11k. All these costs have increased considerably over the past few years.
We are of course reducing expenditure where possible, there will be more opportunities for members to help out with things like out field cutting, but if the club is to continue to play at the level it does, with the offering it makes, it has to increase income.
Full membership will be £300 (£25 per month), £225 for those play only women's games. Players are encouraged to look for sponsorship at £360, which covers the annual full membership sub and inclusion on communications.
Junior subs are now £150 the same for those in full time education. U9s is £75.
The basic sub for Pay-to-Play is increasing to £75 with a match fee of £12.50.
All of which can be paid in one go, monthly via standing order, or in phases via Spond. Discounts for second and third members of a household continue. Full details of the costs will be here chippingsodburycc.co.uk/costs.
50/50 Lotto
The price of the lotto has increased to £3 an entry, players can have multiple entries. For social members converting this change means a reduction from £60 a year to £3 an month (£36 a year). The 50/50 Lotto is being relaunched, look out for posts.
Grants and Sponsors
On the positive side the club continues to take on more sponsors, and apply for grants. Two major new sponsors will be announced soon, but we are always looking for more. We have also been able to get a Section 106 grant for a new garage, there will opportunities here for members to provide services and labour.
Thanks for your continued support. The club is in the middle of a very successful period, one which we aim to continue. If you do have any questions please talk with a committee member, or email membership@chippingsodburycc.co.uk.
