Please accept our apologies if you have received this before, it was originally sent last November but we are aware that not everyone received it.

Hi, winter might seem a strange time to be talking about cricket but we wanted to keep you informed in regards to All Stars.

As your child will be in the Under 9s age group (these are calculated as of August 31st 2022) they can be part of our under 9s that train from 6pm on Friday evenings.  For some this means that they can also continue with All Stars (they won’t have to pay twice) as All Stars runs up to age eight.

The U9s group, as well as regular Friday training nights, is entered into various Kwik Cricket Tournaments throughout the season, the majority of which take part on Sundays. Dates will come out in the spring and everyone will get a chance to take part. These are vital for the children’s development as they allow them to put the skills learnt at training into a match scenario. All children get the opportunity to bat, bowl, and field in these matches, and they are great fun and fast paced.  We will also seek additional matches midweek against other local clubs in and around South Gloucestershire.

As with many things in a volunteer led club like ours this will only be really possible if there are parents and guardians who are willing to help out. You can make a difference in many ways; with training and supporting the coaches, through organising of teams on match days, to helping with BBQs (on Fridays) and administration.  

If your child is female we will be running Dynamos, which will run at a similar time to All Stars and which your daughter will be able to do as well as joining the U9s.  She doesn’t have to do both, but the opportunity is there.

We use an App called Spond as our major communication method.  We will add you to this as it keeps you up to date with all things Sodbury Cricket.

We intend holding a parents' meeting in the Spring, but in the meantime if you would consider what your child will want to participate in, and where you can help out, that would help enormously.

Things to consider include: Umpiring and Scoring;
Coaching, Friday evenings throughout the Summer;
BBQs, on Fridays during training nights; Social Events;
Fixture management for the u9s.
