All Members – I hope find you and your significant others well at this moment in time.

As light appears at the end of the tunnel, it is now appropriate that all our members are updated on various aspects of Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club’s activities.

Cricket – Whilst we await the Prime Ministers road map back to normality or the new normal, it is fair to say that cricket across the whole club will commence as planned, there may be some restrictions on practice size bubbles, use of dressing rooms, the bar and tea’s etc.

The major benefit is that we are likely to be engaged in normal competitive league cricket – the club will be running four saturday teams, a sunday team, women and girls section and a youth section to include All-Stars and Dynamos.

We recommend that all members download this PDF of the latest ECB Roadmap for the return of cricket.https://play-cricket.us4.list-manage.com/track/click…

Pavilion – Following on from the upgrade to the main dressing rooms, showers and creation of additional ladies toilets.

Phase II has commenced which will see our bar and social area ultimately to be vastly improved, more fit for purpose for the membership in its current dynamic and of use when required all year round.

This upgrade has been financed by external funding and a commitment from the Club to utilise some of its reserves to ensure the project is completed to a high standard.

As the season progresses we should be able to derive great benefit and value from our enhanced welcoming environment. What a great way to spend time in the best beer garden in Chipping Sodbury.

Grounds – The grounds team are now carrying our pre-season preparations, there is still work to be done on the general appearance of the ground including erection of practice nets and the covers being put into season ready mode.

In addition again through external funding the club has given commitment for the purchase of 6 new sight screens, an electronic scoreboard for the Jim Cowles ground and in view of the high demand particularly from youth practice on Friday evening an additional mobile net. In a further award the Club now has the funding to upgrade the equipment for outfield cutting.

Subscription / Match Fees – It has been decided that these fees across the whole club will be held at 2019 season levels. Subscriptions are now due and to support our cash flow payment would be much appreciated.

It is important to raise awareness that for season 2022 the structure of subscriptions and tariffs are going to be re organised to include the incorporation of subscription, match fees and pre-season net costs into one payment with the ability to enter into a monthly direct debit.

Finally, we have gone through many challenges in life over the past 12 months, the club indebted to those volunteers who have sustained our organisation during this time.

There is also recognition to those in recent times who have pushed the club forward and have positive plans for our future on and off the field, it is very clear we have emerged from the other side in a better place than we have been for many years particularly in our facility offering.

Our Club is very attractive for members old and new.

I asked our entire membership to support the club in every aspect but more importantly enjoy what we have, enjoy our cricket on and off the field.

In the meantime continue to stay safe.

Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club counts on your support

Kind regardsAndy Shield
